Worship is extremely important at theeffect. As we sse it, it's one of the three pillars of the function of a faith community in the first place. We believe we're here to help ourselves understand our relationship with God and each other as clearly as possible [study], to leave each person we meet better than we found him or her [service], and to directly experience God in our moments [worship].
Our times of musical worship are not supposed to be the sum of our worship in any given week, but a jumpstart and a touchstone to help bring those moments of contact into every other moment and detail of our lives. theeffect band plays regularly twice a week for 30 to 40 minutes, which we believe is the minimum time needed to quiet our minds and spend some time spirit to spirit with God.
weekly worship gatherings
Everyone is welcome at these worship gatherings. Even though Tuesday night is geared toward the Recovery community, all are welcome. Many people come just for the worship portion, but you can stay as long as you wish.
soak
Once a month, generally on the second Friday evening of the month, we dedicate an entire evening to worship. We call them Soaks--an extended time of soaking in God's presence. At these gatherings, theeffect band leads worship for around two hours straight with people mingling, praying alone and with each other, reading devotionally, eating together...
It's a time to use in any way that makes God's presence real to us. With people coming in very comfortable clothes and bringing their beach chairs, and with thick rugs and pillows strewn about for folks to lay on, the atmosphere is as warm as the candlelight and coffee. It's a great time to relax and really soak in the presence of God.
To make sure you don't miss anything, contact us to get on our enews email list and be alerted to upcoming Soaks and all other events. For any other questions, call our worship ministry leader.
