spiritual/recoveryprogramming
In addition to the full weekly schedule of worship gatherings, recovery gatherings, studies, and social events, theeffect is developing additional, in-depth programming of consisting of workshops, classes, and individual and group counseling directed both at those in alcohol and substance abuse recovery and those looking for spiriutal growth and recovery.
Beside creating a space for people to come and connect with each other and enjoy music and arts and gain insight to the spiritual life, we are also concerned about providing the tools people need to repair their relationships, families, jobs, and basic ability to live in community.
One of the challenges facing people trying to enter or re-enter the community, is having enough of a grasp of the basic skills of life to be competitive in the marketplace. Young adults starting out and older people starting over have often never been taught such basic skills and will have difficulty securing and holding jobs with higher relapse rates as a result. theeffect programs will help train people in areas such as goal setting, life planning and “coaching,” social skills, financial skills, relationship skills, career prep skills, and could also extend to some academic assistance for those in need or referral to those services.
theeffect ministry school will also also be involved helping people get a better grasp of the theology and full spectrum of Christian thought both as a preparation for ministry work and for personal growth. The school will also offer workshops and courses in pastoral, lay, and substance abuse counseling and related practical fields.
The goal of all our programs is to give people everything they need in order to be successful in life, to be able to build upon new-found sobriety or spiritual awakening without falling back into old patterns--all in the context of a living and conscious relationship with God and each other. |
