Our faith community addresses the realization that no true transformation, recovery, or rehabilitation is possible without immersion in an authentic spiritual journey. The effects of this emphasis on spirituality are apparent in every area and aspect of theeffect’s ministry, but in the faith community, they take center stage. In a Christian setting, our community focuses on encouraging and helping people to actively engage in their own spiritual journeys rather than focusing on teaching a set of beliefs. As key aspects of our journey, we emphasize:

• realizing the nature of God’s unconditional love
• understanding the teachings of Jesus in their original context--a 1st century Hebrew setting
• personal immersion in Kingdom as a herenow quality of life in God’s spirit

Our faith community holds regular worship gatherings, activities, and events, such as studies, discussion groups, social events, youth-centered gatherings, ministry school classes, seminars and workshops, counseling services, and 12-step meetings each week. Some worship gatherings are geared specifically for the recovery community, others for general groups. All activities are conducted, in as much of an EPIC manner as possible: Experiential, Participatory, Image-based, and Communal, in order to reinforce the concept of personal action and involvement.

theeffect faith community attempts to turn the conventional church model on its head--rather than being a church that also does ministry work within the community, theeffect is a mission and a ministry within the community that also worships together as a result. The focus is on living life as Jesus lived--actively, passionately, other-centeredly--and not on adherence to a set of beliefs about that life. Everyone in the community is encouraged to work and participate in some way in theeffect system.
